A new club for stargazers

Anyone who is interested in the night sky is invited to join The Dufferin Astronomy Association.  There are other astronomy clubs in Ontario but one finds that none of them are close to Dufferin County.   The area is home to some of the darkest skies in southern Ontario, but those looking to involve themselves with other astronomers have to drive over an hour to the nearest clubs.  In this regard, The Dufferin Astronomy Association hopes to fill this void.

Activities

As this is a new club nothing has been set in stone.  We are looking to do outreach through public viewing events in the various communities in the area and providing information to those interested in astronomy.   Member meetings are held once a month .   At these meetings members can share with us their recent activities and we can discuss upcoming events.  The club has a 4 and half inch Newtonian telescope which is free for members to borrow.  This is very beneficial for those who are new to astronomy or thinking of buying a telescope.  Our dark sky observing site is located at Lloyd Armstrong Park in the Town of Mono.  During the summer months we hold group observing sessions here around the time of the new moon.  The public is welcome to attend these gatherings. Any suggestions are welcome.
